Thankfully this is the fifth and final blog post of mine in November on the topic of the General Election .

It really is turning out to be as ineluctably otiose as I'd predicted and feared that it might be.
Amongst the most prominent of hashtags on twitter this morning for example are :- #bbcimpartiality and #labourlies. And that about sums up the state of play in this more than usually cantankerous campaign.

GE 2019 is managing to be even more intellectually indolent than the voters' accustomed expectations of yawning vacuity and cant from all the parties.

No policy statement ,issue of genuine public concern or aspiration for the future has escaped being drowned in the deluge of partisan hyperbole and misdirected drivel, the speakers of which were hoping to make sound something akin to statesman-like rhetoric of great import.Which of course none of it is.

It's way past time that the entire process underwent a Bonfire of the Shibboleths.

What is the difference between uninterested and disinterested?

"Disinterested" and "uninterested" have different meanings, but people are starting to confuse them. Grammar Girl has a trick for getting them right. An uninterested person is bored, unconcerned, or indifferent; a disinterested person is impartial, unbiased, or has no stake in the outcome.

 

Clearly therefore, I'm at one and the same time un-interested in the forthcoming General Election and dis-interested as to the eventual outcome of that election.

Once all the smart,sophisticated,considered,astute insights and observations from the Chief Priests of the MSM Commentariat have been aired and all the usual leading spokesdroids of the major parties have articulated their parties' propaganda ; the British Electorate will make its decisions pretty much as it always does and has done in that very short period of our History that has afforded our nation the luxury of representative parliamentary democracy based on universal adult suffrage.

 

All the whys and wherefores, ifs ,buts and maybes will get run into the ground just as they always are run into the ground through over-emphases ,hyperbole and otiose cant from all the contending parties and factions still masquerading as parties.

 

The archaic formulations of "Left" and "Right" have in actuality been rendered historically redundant by and during the Brexit question.The difficulty is that none of the major parties formally acknowledge the topography of the renewed political landscape and they all adamantly refuse to address the newly aligned populist sentiments,concerns and imperatives with a lexicon fit for purpose. We're in an rapidly evolving dynamic digital political discourse being conducted and expressed in an analogue frame of reference.

 

There ought to be for example, a broad rational consensus that every vote should carry equal weight and yet the UK's constitutional mechanism remains entombed by and subject to FPTP - first past the post where not all votes have equal value.

 

And as for the pre-eminent farrago of our times, to wit Brexit aka Leave the EU,the established parliamentary forces have been debating the possibility of actually implementing the result of the EURef 2016 for three and a half years. 

 

Disinterested as I am, the probabilities,in my cursory view of the outcome of GE2019 will be in a limited spectrum ranging from 1) A small overall Tory majority, 2) A minority Tory govt with DUP support, 3) A minority Labour govt with SNP /Plaid support or 4) Something completely different and unforeseen.

 

Oh,and Schadenfreude all round.

And still it rumbles on.The Salisbury imbroglio. The tiniest molehill has over this last few days been assiduously turned into a proverbial mountain.

Tory Minority Westminster Regime Leader May even went walkabout in the erstwhile largely overlooked Wiltshire County Town,as if she was Margaret Thatcher at the height of the Falklands conflict.

Opposition Leader Corbyn ( barely two years on from being massively no-confidenced by 90% of his parliamentary  "colleagues" who still want nothing to do with him as their Party's duly elected leader after all this time ) has tried to inject  a dose of reason and level-headedness into the hyperbole strewn bluster aired from all directions in the House of Commons chamber as if it were the set of " The Darkest Hour ".

And still it rumbles on. Expulsions of Russian embassy staff has been ordered;the nature of the incident itself has now Orwellian like been recategorised as a  direct attack on UK sovereignty and the first use of a chemical weapon attack by one state on another in europe, the first since 1945.

The very same utterly detestable venal politicians and parties that for decades now have systematically betrayed the UK's sovereignty and independence and ensured our enslavement to the EU and USA are now the ones prattling on about attacks on our sovereignty.

The corporate MSM are strutting and posturing, filling cyberspace and the airwaves and diminishing acres of newsprint with fatuous drivel and archaic references to a Russian menace.And most itinerant Westminster benchwarmers are also behaving and acting as expected. Labour worse than the Tories since it is Labour,historically, that is the party of war and foreign interventionism.

And to cap it all ,the Minority regime's Secretary of State for Defence. the jejeune Gavin Williamson uttered the immortal phrase that Russia ought to shut up and go away.

Russia has just won,again. Schadenfreude!

Barely 72 hours on from the conclusion of counting the votes for #GE2017 and the UK polity is alive and well and full of vigour! The few sober minded Labour strategists who do actually know just WTF they're talking about, ( as opposed to the many ,000s of wannabe socialist/Leftist placardwavers and spouters of vacuous platitudes who never do ) Labour is a long, long way from achieving even the merest semblance of a victory over the used-to-be Conservatives. From the LabourList official internal email is the following analysis :-
We need to temper our relief and elation about these unexpected gains with awareness that there was a swing against us in many Midlands and Northern industrial heartland seats.   Our votes are not efficiently distributed around the country compared to the Tories because we stacked up “super majorities” in London and university town seats; and we need to gain at least 64 more seats, more than twice what we achieved on Thursday, to get a Labour Government with a majority of one.   A good case study of where the current strategy triumphed and its limitations is the Kent and Essex Estuary seats. Canterbury, with its many students, was a stunning gain, but the 11 more working class seats on both sides of the Thames that had been Labour in 1997 and in many cases 2001 and 2005 as well were not gained, and in most cases have Tory majorities of about 10,000.   We have to gain some of them to get a majority Labour government, and that will require a strategy that goes beyond the groups of voters appealed to this time.
Meanwhile,  the May Regime is cobbling together a de-facto alliance with the DUP. A putative arrangement that has drawn the ire of every conceivable Social democrat,socialist,marxoid,liberal,green,feminist,atheist,secularist,anti-Christian,advocate of sodomy and pre-birth human child exterminator under the sun. The full panoply in fact, of the PC,multicultural metropolitan elitist entourage that has poisoned and debilitated western societies for the last 60 years. Now there's a surprise.

The trouble with obituaries is that if you write them too early you end up looking a right prat should the putative deceased not actually then go ahead and pop their clogs.  That said, in the wake of May 4/5th's various English and Welsh local county council and Scottish  city and district elections, it is as certain as certain can be that Labour's death notice isn't in any danger of being even a tad premature. They're dead and gone and good bloody riddance. Of course it ought to have happened to the Conservatives as well, but they still possess and know how to make use of,  a certain machiavellian  political street cunning, at least enough to get by on as opposed to Labour. Alas the Party of Labour ; of over rated cheap suited zealots and crypto fascists masquerading as liberals, who were seriously way past being fit for any purpose other than being tossed into an unmarked grave and having the gravediggers relieve themselves over it after they've filled the waste of space back in again. And that is getting terribly close to peak Schadenfreude and June 8 is still a way off. But, heck even the dumb and dumber SNP and LibDems proclaimed heroic,epoch busting victories on days where they both actually made nett losses on council seats! Labour on the other hand experienced a full on sensuround premonition, a sort of anti-epiphany of  their public crucifixion on June 8 ; their PC multiculturalist atheist sack of putrifying 19th century ideological garbage devoured by time,space and history. Amen.

June 8 is still a bloody long way off at this point in time, and there is much mischief, misinformation and downright lying to be done by the parties, that is all of the Parties, in this general election campaign. Remember that 200+ #Labour MPs. spearheaded the failed Remain campaign during the EU Referendum, the result of which they all swore they'd respect and uphold. The LibDems ,who are neither liberal let alone democratic in the original sense of those words, have made the annulment of the Referendum result the centrepiece of their electoral campaign. The SNP,Plaid Cymru and Sinn Fein for diverse, albeit remarkably similar aims of anti-Unionist, regionalist considerations wish #brexit dead.The unconvicted war criminal and messiah-manque Blair himself has again risen from his resting place to try and concoct some corporeal intervention during the run up to June 8. And Corbyn's supreme policy strategy and decades long acumen as a wholly peripheral if not entirely irrelevant bogus leftist agitator has led him to call for the Labour Party to promise additional Public bank holidays should they actually win the election. And heaven help us all it has fallen to the Conservatives to take the Holy Grail of #Brexit forward. Not that any of this ludicrous imbroglio is new ; the players have changed and maybe even the colour of their playing strips, but the game remains the same.

There is something singularly maudlin when something or someone you knew had no chance in succeeding, fulfills that premonition. Two short years ago,the tribalist petty demagogues and largely ineffectual activists from across the far left spectrum danced around the totem poles of their own ancestral delusions. They'd paid their £3 and had voted for Corbyn and lo and behold the great non-hope had won! Then the scurrilous,mendacious cynical hypocrites of mainstream Labour set about spending over a year conducting a putative Party civil War that ended with Corbyn getting re-elected with a larger mandate than previously anticipated. The truth of all of that is that History has passed all of the Labour Party by.The Men of Action who've so dramatically reappeared on the centre stage of History are not from the ranks of the antideluvian Left. Two years on from Corbyn's corporeal manifestation in front of his newly acquired acolytes, The Independent opines :-

The only way Corbyn can succeed, is by taking the sharp left turn that he was elected to do. The people also need to see an authoritative and relentless streak that has so far been absent from his leadership. In short, Corbyn must fight back. He needs to take control of the party before he can take control of the country, otherwise he is nothing but a sitting duck.

One of the ways this can be achieved is through enabling the democratic right of CLPs to reselect and deselect their parliamentary candidates, and organising in order to ensure that young, up and coming, “fire in the belly” left wingers replace those who are actively seeking to undermine the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn.

You know that feeling of dread you get at the onset of what you know will be a migraine headache? The same sickening sense of foreboding is achieved by listening to what that humongously vapid and lacklustre straw man masquerading as the current leader of the British Labour Party has to say on the EU's " Freedom of Movement ". The impending sense of nausea he induces when evading the issue is all too palpable. It is also all too indicative of the 200 #LabourIn MPs' tawdry metropolitan PC ideology. For some reason, this antidemocratic, seditionist, parliamentary rabble and quite a large swathe of otherwise serious and rational people on the British " Left " think and behave and speak as if the ineluctable Laws of the Capitalist means of production,distribution and exchange , i.e. the totality of the Capitalist economic system has ceased to operate. Despite their voluble and disingenuous abusive harangues to the contrary, they e.g  most of Labour most of the time and most of the other " left " most of the time categorically deny the following.:- The basis of the laws of supply and demand are that the less you have of something,the higher the price of it inexorably is.The more you have of something the lower the price of that becomes.  Seriously,the operation of the capitalist system is really simple, that's why it works. 100 tons of potatoes might fetch a sum of say £1per ton; if only 1 ton of spuds became available, the price would rocket. An increase in the availability of labour in what is " a labour market " will overall lower the price of labour.A shoratge of labour would increase the price. Adam smith expounded on this Marx certainly knew that this is how our world operates. But not according to Corbyn or Slogans With Placards or any other amongst the dreck of failed PC multiculturalist neophytes who show off their faux-revolutionary,anticapitalist politics at Uni. Sad.  Unrestricted labour market competition is called freedom of movement. Utterly ghastly. Time for sovereign borders and tariff barriers and each nation State to its own.Time for autarky and higher wages. Time to smash the #EU to smithereens. And that Comrades is Revolutionary!

I launched this missive earlier today posting it to the Wakefield Express.It concerns the local Labour MP, Mary Creagh one of the 200 seditionist #LabourIn MPs,who is particularly woefully out of touch with her constituents,and a 2015 failed Labour leadership contender who couldn't get enough endorsements to get on the ballot,unlike J.Corbyn who eventually did.

A flurry of social and mainstream corporate media activity accompanied Jeremy Corbyn's  recent launch of his " Digital Manifesto ". One paragraph in particular struck me as more than just a little sinister in its implications.

 

" We will develop a voluntary scheme that provides British citizens with a secure and portable
identity for their on-line activities. The Digital Citizen Passport will be used when interacting
with public services like health, welfare, education and housing. "

 

Clearly we're deep inside Humpty-Dumpty territory where words mean precisely what those who use them want them to mean, no more and no less. " We will develop a voluntary scheme.." The use of the royal " we " in this particular context refers to a notionally future Labour Government where Corbyn, presumably is Prime Minister. Repeat apres moi develop a voluntary scheme.Presumably participation in the development of the scheme itself will be voluntary, as will the actual participation once this scheme is implemented. This scheme, " The Digital Citizen Passport " will be used when interacting with various public services. Where does that place the,currently estimated, 6 ,000,000 digitally excluded citizens? Surely the customary face to face interpersonal, over the counter transactions will be allowed to continue, won't they? In which case why introduce a digital citizens passportat all? Is the current blight of mass digital exclusion to be tackled first and every household and every citizen included via a government backed programme?

There will have to be either a very steep learning curve or a very long lead time ahead of implementation. Then again virtually all politicians of all persuasions adopt that insufferably haughty manner whenever trumpeting the next big thing that they'll be involved in bringing to pass.

Can't wait for the, what was it again? oh yeah, digital citizen passport..
