A 70+ seats overall majority and Labour's worst result since 1935.

Considering that my own best guesses were centred around a small Tory majority or essentially a hung parliament - you can never be too pessimistic when it comes to Election outcomes ;after all where would the overwhelming joy & mood of celebration be in the wake of a really great and unexpected triumph if  you had confidently predicted precisely that beforehand ? exactly; relief is part of joy,the thrill of the ride.

There was also the added bonus,the doubleplusgood  frisson of Schadenfruede  :-

Thankfully this is the fifth and final blog post of mine in November on the topic of the General Election .

It really is turning out to be as ineluctably otiose as I'd predicted and feared that it might be.
Amongst the most prominent of hashtags on twitter this morning for example are :- #bbcimpartiality and #labourlies. And that about sums up the state of play in this more than usually cantankerous campaign.

GE 2019 is managing to be even more intellectually indolent than the voters' accustomed expectations of yawning vacuity and cant from all the parties.

No policy statement ,issue of genuine public concern or aspiration for the future has escaped being drowned in the deluge of partisan hyperbole and misdirected drivel, the speakers of which were hoping to make sound something akin to statesman-like rhetoric of great import.Which of course none of it is.

It's way past time that the entire process underwent a Bonfire of the Shibboleths.

Three weeks to go. Three very long weeks to go until Polling Day in GE2019.

And the strain is already showing amongst all the putative contenders for Office.

Being both dis-interested and un-interested in the final outcome,I have at least avoided the very worst of the symptoms of persiflage fatigue.

And persiflage is as good as it gets in respect of any utterances vaguely resembling well thought out,committed ideological and philosophical points of principle that define the character and motivation of any of the aforementioned putative contenders for Office.

A televised " Leaders Debate " live and unscripted,epitomises more than any other micro- electioneering phenomenon the utterly vacuous and worthless nature of the entire entire electoral process itself.

Brexit , emotional blackmail about the NHS , the fatuous climate emergency etc etc. are merely the irrational ramblings of a political class whose actual power and influence have long since been effectively usurped by the ruling metropolitan domiciled elites.

Superficially, as to the result hitting the headlines on the morning of December 13 ;I'll stick with - a) A very slender overall Tory majority , b) Labour the largest party but way short of a majority or c) Neither a or b.

In the meantime I'll be working on my Schadenfreude.

What is the difference between uninterested and disinterested?

"Disinterested" and "uninterested" have different meanings, but people are starting to confuse them. Grammar Girl has a trick for getting them right. An uninterested person is bored, unconcerned, or indifferent; a disinterested person is impartial, unbiased, or has no stake in the outcome.

 

Clearly therefore, I'm at one and the same time un-interested in the forthcoming General Election and dis-interested as to the eventual outcome of that election.

Once all the smart,sophisticated,considered,astute insights and observations from the Chief Priests of the MSM Commentariat have been aired and all the usual leading spokesdroids of the major parties have articulated their parties' propaganda ; the British Electorate will make its decisions pretty much as it always does and has done in that very short period of our History that has afforded our nation the luxury of representative parliamentary democracy based on universal adult suffrage.

 

All the whys and wherefores, ifs ,buts and maybes will get run into the ground just as they always are run into the ground through over-emphases ,hyperbole and otiose cant from all the contending parties and factions still masquerading as parties.

 

The archaic formulations of "Left" and "Right" have in actuality been rendered historically redundant by and during the Brexit question.The difficulty is that none of the major parties formally acknowledge the topography of the renewed political landscape and they all adamantly refuse to address the newly aligned populist sentiments,concerns and imperatives with a lexicon fit for purpose. We're in an rapidly evolving dynamic digital political discourse being conducted and expressed in an analogue frame of reference.

 

There ought to be for example, a broad rational consensus that every vote should carry equal weight and yet the UK's constitutional mechanism remains entombed by and subject to FPTP - first past the post where not all votes have equal value.

 

And as for the pre-eminent farrago of our times, to wit Brexit aka Leave the EU,the established parliamentary forces have been debating the possibility of actually implementing the result of the EURef 2016 for three and a half years. 

 

Disinterested as I am, the probabilities,in my cursory view of the outcome of GE2019 will be in a limited spectrum ranging from 1) A small overall Tory majority, 2) A minority Tory govt with DUP support, 3) A minority Labour govt with SNP /Plaid support or 4) Something completely different and unforeseen.

 

Oh,and Schadenfreude all round.

Oh boy...

British Prime Minister Johnson reneged conclusively on his earlier solemn promise to actually die in a ditch if his government couldn't deliver Brexit on October 31st and that he wouldn't go back to EU to ask for an extension.

The EU have helpfully referred to their grand gesture as  a " flextension " and it is valid until January 31st. 2020, which of course is way past the original deadline of October 31.

We are now all hostages being held in a parliamentary purgatory where every conceivable ideological schism is surfacing in all the major parties and there are schisms within schisms.

In the round of course, the Remain campaign succeeded ages ago in effectively torpedoing Brexit.

The waves of Waitrose /Ocado home delivery loyalists and their pithily adorned placards with slogans had sod all to do with the effectiveness of the EU funded, largely Labour Party directed, seditionist enterprise that so remorselessly undermined and heinously traduced what had been the electorally triumphant Leave campaign and all those who voted Leave on June 23  2016.

What began as a farce has evolved into an ever greater farce.Public political discourse has been utterly debased and the very operation of our constitutional parliamentary system have been laid waste.

In those two aspects, the Remoaner zealots and their controlling Masters must feel that they've succeeded beyond their own wildest imaginings.

To be perfectly frank ,earnest and above board on the topic of " General Election or no General Election "...

October 31 draws ineluctably closer and with it the prospect of, " Brexit " actually happening.

The monumental rearguard action undertaken by the Remain campaign to sabotage ,delay ,impede and ultimately eviscerate Brexit as the legitimate democratic expression of the UK electorate in the EURef 2016 - has been to all intents and purposes successful!

There is, of course a price to pay for all their shenanigans and in all likelihood it will be a very heavy one.

Without recourse to muskets and halberds or judicial auto-da-fes , this country has gone through and to a large extent well into future will continue going through a significant period of historical political sea change on par with The Tudor Reformation of the 1530s and 40s as well as The English Civil War(s) of a Century later.

And in spite of the socio-economic driven ideological schisms that have affected all major parliamentary parties over the issue of  " Brexit ", to a greater degree these Parties have carried on with their various , parochial petty concerns with an astounding insouciance.Quite simply, contrary to all the alarms and noises generated, not one of them has been riven irredeemably apart.

The antiquated First Past The Post electoral system has in effect acted as the dead man's handle in keeping the parliamentary edifice from simply keeling over and crashing off the track.

The meteorite has hit and this time the Dinosaurs have refused to die. Just as the hoped for massive gains in the Reformation ended up over historic time pretty marginal at best and the dreams of the Levellers and other Puritan radicals during the Civil War never bore the harvests of the fruit of their endeavours, so with the UK's exit from the European Union.

Then again, the Stoic axiom that nothing worthwhile can ever be achieved without pain and sacrifice has yet to dawn on the EU /Soros funded seditionist shills who masqueraded under so many disguises ending up as Peoples Vote.

The 80% or so of MPs who backed Remain , the metropolitan cultural elitists,academics, luvvies and City shysters ,those who since June 2016 denounced and villified their compatriots as xenophobic,little englander racist thugs ,cretins and morons who voted the way they did for Brexit because they were too stupid,ill advised and under educated to fail to understand that voting Remain was the only sensible thing to do with one's own emancipated right to vote by secret ballot.

Corporate MSM and other platforms announce that, ” A judge sitting in Scotland’s highest civil court has rejected an interim interdict (injunction) to prevent to the suspension of parliament. Lord Doherty said he believed the full hearing set down for next Friday should be moved forward to Tuesday or Wednesday.”

The judicial foray in Edinburgh is contemporaneous with virtually similar legalistic manoeuvres in London and Belfast.

Parliament is being prorogued.Only this time, for the first time since Oliver Cromwell ,significant and influential sections of our metropolitan domiciled liberal europhile elite are keen to bring the uneducated masses into the polemical fray by dispensing their very own bowdlerised explanation of what is a pretty arcane, customary and heretofore uneventful parliamentary / constitutional mechanism.

Having insidiously slandered, defamed and demonised the 17.4 million, with a pathological intensity not heard since Josef Goebbels apogee ,the EU funded seditionist cabal are finding themselves desperately short of any appropriately nuanced denunciations of Prime Minister Johnson and his government.

Brexit having sucked virtually all the political debating oxygen out of the UK polity these last few years, has as I’ve posted before, curbed my penchant and enthusiasm for blogging from a previous average of 8 or 9 blog posts per month down to a bare average of 5 such posts per month.

And even that has me rummaging around , often in previous years for the really substantive posts on Brexit.

Even the predominant themes and issues currently holding sway in the West has been reduced to some kind of near-paranoia concerning The Peoples’ Republic of China and its economic prowess.

The imbroglio in Syria gets little coverage across the corporate MSM in comparison to what it once did 4 or 5 years ago.Mainly because the Syrian government forces with Russian and Iranian assistance have in large part prevailed.The US and its deluded EUNATO satrapies have neither the will,appetite or logistics any more to seriously alter the ,now seemingly ineluctable outcome.Only quasi-bankrupt Turkey under the egotistical maniacal leadership of Erdogan is still in position to perpetuate the looming folly of a third world war by accident or miscalculation.

Trump meanwhile causes barely concealed sniggering in enquring after the availability of Greenland for purchase by the USA.

Yes, it was ,as it turns out being serious. Snark turned to faux- outrage,compounded by his unilateral cancelling of a state visit to Denmark after their Premier stated the blindingly obvious that its territory of Greenland was not up for sale.

The Brexit Secretary says he has “set in stone” the repeal of the European Communities Act 1972 — but the legal significance of this misleading claim is very limited

Earlier today, the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, Stephen Barclay MP, posted a tweet saying that he had “signed the legislation setting in stone the repeal” of the European Communities Act 1972 (ECA). (The ECA is the UK statute that gives effect to EU law in the UK’s domestic legal system.) He went on to assert that this is a “landmark moment” because it “underlines that we are leaving the EU on 31 October”.

I have signed the legislation setting in stone the repeal of the European Communities Act 1972. This is a landmark moment in taking back control of our law. It underlines that we are leaving the EU on October 31.

At best, this is misleading. All that Barclay has done is to bring into force section 1 of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (EUWA). It says that: “The European Communities Act 1972 is repealed on exit day.” However, the effect of bringing section 1 into effect is decidedly modest. Most importantly — and, given the wording of the section, obviously — bringing that provision into force does not immediately repeal the ECA: rather, it only repeals it on “exit day”. “Exit day” is currently defined by section 20(1) of the Act as 31 October. But other provisions in section 20 enable the definition of “exit day” to be amended if the date of the UK’s departure from the EU changes under EU Law. Indeed, this is precisely what happened when extensions to the Article 50 period were agreed between the UK and the European Council in the spring.

There is no legal reason why this could not happen again — and, crucially, bringing section 1 of the EUWA into force makes absolutely no difference to this point. Whether section 1 is in force or not, it only produces legal effects from “exit day”. It follows that if, for example, Parliament were to require the Government to seek, and if the European Council were to grant, a further Article 50 extension, the definition of “exit day” could be further amended in order to ensure that the ECA was repealed only with effect from the new, later date of the UK’s departure from the EU.  This, in turn, means that — contrary to his claim — the Brexit Secretary has not “set in stone” the repeal of the ECA. The EUWA explicitly contemplates that “exit day” can be changed in order to enable it to be aligned with the actual date of the UK’s departure from the EU.

This leads on to a further, and critical, point. “Exit day” is a concept whose relevance liis wholly in domestic law. It is the date on which various provisions of the EUWA swing into action, in order to ensure that the domestic legal consequences of leaving the EU are appropriately managed — including by converting vast swathes of EU law into domestic law. However, the domestic definition of “exit day” has no bearing whatever on when and whether the UK leaves the EU. That is a matter that is governed exclusively by EU law. Similarly, whether the ECA is in force or not has no bearing on whether or when the UK leaves the EU — although if the UK were to repeal the ECA before leaving the EU, it would immediately be in breach of EU law. From this, it follows that whether the ECA is repealed or not is neither here nor there when it comes to whether or when the UK leaves the EU. All it is relevant to is whether, for as long as it remains a member, the UK does or does not comply with the legal obligations under the EU Treaties that are binding on it in international law.

All of this demonstrates that the legal significance of bringing section 1 of the EUWA into force is extremely limited. It does not “set in stone” the repeal of the ECA, because the legal meaning of “exit day” can be changed and the date of the ECA’s repeal deferred. It does not prevent the UK Government from seeking an Article 50 extension. It does not prevent Parliament from legislating to require the UK Government to seek an Article 50 extension. It does not prevent the European Council from granting an extension if the UK Government asks for one, whether of its own volition or at Parliament’s insistence. And it does not prevent Parliament, if it so wishes, from legislating to revoke the UK’s notification under Article 50, thereby stopping the Brexit process in its tracks. The politics, of course, are another thing. But any suggestion that ECA repeal has been “set in stone”, or that this somehow locks in 31 October as the inevitable date of the UK’s departure from the EU, is wrong as a matter of law. ECA repeal, and Brexit itself, are no more “set in stone” today than they were in the spring, when “exit day” was twice redefined in domestic law and the Article 50 period was twice extended as a matter of EU law.

The under-rehearsed participants are actually believing themselves to be in a real world authentic constitutional political struggle,which of course from the audience /spectators’ point of view they are not,only seeming to be so for the sake of parliamentary verisimilitude.
A series of keenly contested highly disputatious votes was summarised by BBC ONline as:-

The amendments were “broadly in line” with government policy, which is why the government accepted them.
By 305 votes to 302 – with 14 Tories rebelling – MPs backed an amendment that prevents the UK from collecting taxes on behalf of the EU, unless the rest of the EU does the same for the UK.
Applying EU tariffs to products destined for the EU is part of Mrs May’s plan to avoid friction at UK borders after Brexit.
Another amendment, to ensure the UK is out of the EU’s VAT regime, was backed by 303 to 300, with a Tory rebellion of 11.
Three Labour MPs voted with the government.
The government won several other votes more comfortably, and the entire bill was then approved by the House of Commons by 318 to 285.

The Conservative/Labour duopoly itself, as entrenched defenders of the archaic FPTP which keeps them eternally as the two major parties,seems to be have been cast into existential doubt during the course of the parliamentary imbroglio of recent days. Leading Conservatives such as Dominic Grieve and Anna Soubry supported by leading Labour EU shills,openly advocate a government of national unity to replace the present ailing May minority regime.

Suffice it to say ” Schadenfreude ” ;at least for now.

Today,Monday 10 June 2019 marks the official commencement of the Tory Party leadership contest to replace the outgoing Anglican Tea Lady of the Year,Theresa May.

That public political discourse here in Great Britain is even plumbing such unenviable depths of otiose garbage and taking it quasi-seriously, is simply a measure of how many billions of light years we are away from the realisation of the promise born in the aftermath of June 23 2016.

13 putative contenders for the vacant party leadership had put their names forward to enter the fray, though only two succumbed to logic and reason and withdrew before the "off". Quite who will emerge victorious at the end of the hastily cobbled together, proverbial Heath Robinson party electoral process is anyone's guess.

Boris Johnson ,Jeremy Hunt, Esther McVey, Dominic Raab appear the most plausible; then again when has plausibility ever been a consideration? to wit a committed Remainer with a woefully incoherent liberal record as Home Secretary should never have won the last contest in 2016,for example.

If nothing else the contest exudes a rather tawdry, down at heel shabbiness of an end-of -season pantomime.All the jokes have been worn out by constant, soul-less repetition and the actors are simply going through the motions.With each passing day this particular production is selling fewer and fewer tickets.

Brexit came into this world stillborn in the early hours of June 24,2016.The EU has already spent way too much off budget in funding seditionist 5th columnists Peoples Vote,LabourIn,Open Britain,Another Europe etc etc. And disposal of the newborn's cadaver has not been the high watermark of the EU's usual skill and savoir fare in such matters.

My own personal optimum solution to ending the highly contrived and barely plausible parliamentary constitutional impasse surrounding final and ultimate betrayal of the Vote to Leave,would be for Boris Johnson as PM to get the HoC to revoke Article 50.Matters solved.Let's get on with the rest of politics.

Then again,Dominc Raab intimated that should he win the leadership contest,he would as PM seek to prorogue parliament so that it was not in session and therefore unable to impede the now amended date of the UK's departure from the EU on October 31.

Prorogue parliament? Constitutionally the PM of the day goes to the Palace and asks for the Monarch's consent to prorogue parliament. End of.The Monarch is obliged not to deny the request.

Why didn't someone think of that sooner, say before March 29th?

What are hate incidents?

The police and Crown Prosecution Service have agreed a common definition of hate incidents.
They say something is a hate incident if the victim or anyone else think it was motivated by hostility or prejudice based on one of the following things:

• disability
• race
• religion
• transgender identity
• sexual orientation.

This means that if you believe something is a hate incident it should be recorded as such by the person you are reporting it to. All police forces record hate incidents based on these five personal characteristics.
Anyone can be the victim of a hate incident. For example, you may have been targeted because someone thought you were gay even though you’re not, or because you have a disabled child.

The key passage in the aforegoing Kafka-esque explanation is, "  something is a hate incident if the victim or anyone else think it was ".
This signals a reversion to the jurisprudence of 1789 Revolutionary France,where guilt was established by denunciation.
All this is by way of necessary prologue to the matter at hand.The issue of the day,the scandal as it unfolds.

A few days ago in  the  Daily Telegraph , Boris Johnson critiqued,in his inimitable journalistic style,the wearing of the burqa. The MSM as much as the hordes on social media have transformed this otherwise fairly obscure debating point into a national politicised cause celebre. 

Hence the preamble: Johnson's  remarks were reported to the Met.Police Commissioner Cressida Dick and after ordering a preliminary investigation into the complaint,found no basis for proceeding further.His sartorial critique had not infringed any of the precepts of the hate incident protocols- a necessary precondition for something heading into actual hate crime territory.

All of which has merely added fuel to the raging fire of spite and vindictiveness surrounding the hapless BoJo. Senior Conservative Party figures -invariably of the Remain faction-have called for internal disciplinary measures,even expulsion to be considered; EU Marshal Petain Prize Winner Theresa May went so far as to call upon her former Foreign Secretary to apologise for the hurt that his remarks had caused.

Which of course is utter and total bollox.

We now are witness to the ludicrous spectacle of atheist pro- islamic terrorism Trotskyite non entities SWP in league with the usual PC metropolitan Labour cultural elitists in a contrived Thought Police pantomime. Who would've have thought it?

Clearly the ineluctable rise and burgeoning successes of Populism- from Brexit and Trump to germany's AfD, and governments in Austria Hungary and Italy etc. have unnerved the heretofore unchallenged and unchallengable metropolitan globalist multiculti ruling elites across the West.

Schadenfreude has never gotten this epic before.

The deal done at Chequers, ( aka Minority Tory Cabinet shenanigans), to arrive at a working consensus on the government's position at the EU Withdrawal Negotiations, so volubly heralded only a few days ago has imploded.

The Brexit Secretary David Davis and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson became the first dual high level cabinet resignations since the Falklands Crisis hit the Thatcher regime back in 1982.

Naturally the snuffling,grunting swineherds of the corporate MSM and partisan social media have been all over this with their usual autistic responses and analyses.

But it is ,perhaps perversely,a real spectacle to behold. The very last bastion of Western European "democratic" two party-rule,the carefully maintained FPTP Lab./Con.duopoly heaving and breaking apart under its myriad incompatible,archaic idiosyncracies and inefficiencies.

The broad swathe of the european continent's political geography from France in the west across Holland,Germany,Austria,Czechia,Italy and up in Scandinavia has almost uniformly felt the burgeoning tsunami of anti-globalist,anti-EU driven Populism.

All except the UK where the tensions and expressions of dissent have found it hardest to escape from the FPTP electoral unrepresentative straitjacket.

And the resignations from Tory party apparatchiks just keep coming.It's like watching one desperate assassin after another stepping up to take a pot shot at the corpse of Archduke Franz Ferdinand after Gavrilo Princip had already topped him.

Had the Conservatives in their 2015 GE manifesto promised to hold,if returned to office, an advisory only referendum on UK membership of the EU -history really would have turned out ...portentous crescendo of music... a bit different,but not much.

They chose,instead with full cross party parliamentary agreement to make the result of the Referendum binding.The itinerant Westminster careerist benchwarmers believed,even as they promulgated this measure, that the 23 June 2016 EU Referendum would come out in favour of Remain.The entirety of the metropolitan domiciled ruling elites ,the entire Oxbridge / Public School alumni that constitutes the MSM Commentariat - all knew for certain that the Electorate when asked to approve of the UK remaining  a servile satrapy of the EU,would give their supine consent at the ballot box,no problem.

Except of course, that they didn't. The majority of the Electorate chose instead to exercise their too often muted sovereign will by asking to be set free from the yoke of EU bondage and for the release of Great Britain from the serfdom of the 4th.German Reich.

And for the next two years,the metropolitan elites unleashed a continuous propaganda barrage of unmitigated class-hatred savagery toward ordinary working class people and all those who expressed even a modicum of traditional amiable, patriotism and had,in the elites' view made a mistake in voting Leave.

The Religious Reformation of the mid -16th .Century and then the Parliamentary v. Monarchical Absolutism engendered Civil War of the 1630s and 40s are probably the nearest comparable historical episodes to the present interminable constitutional imbroglio that has consumed almost the entirety of the UK polity in dissension,factionalism,mutual antipathy and unreason.

The Remain campaign has proven to be the more determined of the two.It has used the bigger lies,the greater misinformation and the more vituperative slanderous mis-characterisation of their opponents in the Leave side than has been the case vice versa.

Ultimately The Reformation ended up,in hindsight as a dog-eared,pretty much heavily adulterated theological compromise that fell far too short of being genuinely Protestant as envisaged by either Luther or Calvin and which would have made for a far better and purer modernity and Society. Equally the English Civil War period delivered far less than had  been aspired to by so many.Annual parliaments,universal male suffrage etc. Though many substantial reforms did actually occur,the monarchy was back by 1660.

And so we come to it...more portentous music....on June 12. Though he prattles on in his usual peremptory condescending Blairite metropolitan elitist manner -as if June 23 had never happened, leading EU shill Labour MP and Remainer Chuka Umunna ,said: "It is absolutely outrageous for the government to allocate just one day to a debate that promises to be crucial for the future of our country."

"This is a shameful attempt by the government to avoid difficult questions about the chaotic mess they've made of the Brexit negotiations."

And perhaps he's got a valid point.

The rest including the latest egregious faux-pas from Boris Johnson is simply theatre,another act in a pantomime slowly unwinding from the fabric or the reality of our everyday lives and concerns.

The People shall not forget this treasonable betrayal of their Sovereign will,neither shall they forgive those who carried out that betrayal.

The Foreign Secretary was urged to explain the answer he gave when asked why he was certain the novichok nerve agent originated in Russia.

And in the meantime, the entire corporate MSM domiciled in the UK ( notionally "right" and notionaly  "left" ) have spent the past few weeks lambasting the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn MP who urged caution and circumspection in regard to making accusations against Russia prior to establishing the facts and presenting the evidence.

Which naturally enough the decrepit,bumbling minority Tory regime were never ever going to hang around for before attempting to single-handedly re-ignite the Cold War. None of this habeas corpus,due process,let the Police investigate the crime,establish the facts,uncover the empirical evidence to give to the CPS to present in court at a trial -none of that nonsense.

The UK's Tory minority regime is currently embroiled  in a convoluted existential mess and finding itself in the proverbial hole,has opted to carry on digging.

Russia has now been elevated to the vaunted status of grave threat to the international order and future security of the european continent. This Will O'the Wisp has been latterly conjured up by the embattled Tory Austerity regime, caught as it is between a rock and a hard place - the rock of national betrayal of the vote to Leave the EU and the rock of diplomatic and military impotence and delusion in the wider world.

Regarding the matter of immediate domestic concern to the metropolitan-domiciled ruling elites,that of maintaining the EU's supremacy over the British people,it has taken the faux-adversaries of Remain and Leave a little while to finesse and implement their joint strategy for a de-facto annulment of the verdict of the June 2016 EU Referendum.

But in spite of some efforts to honour and implement said verdict to Leave, the combined forces of mendacity,hypocrisy and servile loyalty to a hostile foreign power - the EU - have at last managed to cobble together a transition deal. This transition deal pretends to extend the interim period of time from the expiry of Article 50 at the end of March 2019 to December 2020 for there to be no, imaginary, cliff edge exodus from the confines of the EU that might have,had we ever really gone ahead with it,been an economic shock of trading on WTO rules following the UK's departure-which in any event is now confirmed as never ever going to eventuate.

The very same mendacious invertebrates who for generations now have singularly failed to defend and promote the interests of the British people vis a vis the EU, are now posing themselves as hardened Cold War hawks ready to engage Russia.

Boris Johnson the EU Leave campaign's leader-manque who impugned and denigrated the EU and all its institutions so viscerally is now at the front of the UK's campaign to get the self same EU to stand shoulder to shoulder against the imminent,highly implausible threat coming from Russia.
The yawning gap in credibility is even at this distance plain for all to see.

Treachery at home,discarding the democratic vote of the Electorate is coupled with resorting to infantile posturing that passes for international diplomacy abroad.

Drawing parallels between the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia with the Berlin Olympics of 1936 in Nazi Germany is of course another way of making sure that fuses are lit.

The metropolitan ruling elites were always going to " betray " the vote to Leave? Not true!

They didn't even have the slightest inkling that the result of the 23 June 2016 Referendum on the UK's continuing membership would actually fall to the Leave side.

Nobody amongst the serried ranks of itinerant benchwarmers at Westminster nor in the byzantine bureaucracies of Whitehall actually thought it remotely conceivable that after 44 years of satrapydom,the British electorate might somehow not vote in the majority for a continuation of the status quo. And yet they did!

The same ineradicable spirit of dogged determination that got our men safely home from the beaches at Dunkirk,prevailed on another such auspicious day when confronted by the seeming inevitability of a predetermined fate,the people erred on the side of resistance.

That's how the History of our ineluctably glorious island Nation rolls.We get there;we make it;we carry on.

And now,not for the first time,what ought by the dint of inexhaustible existential endeavour to have presaged the apotheosis of triumph for the Common Man has been usurped,pimped out,squandered,bartered away for a mess of pottage by the metropolitan ruling elites.

Sabre-rattling and venal bellicose posturing are back in the spotlight at the UN.

Already confused and flummoxed over the internal affairs of  DPRK ,the failing US and its imperialist satrapies are getting sucked ever deeper into the Syrian imbroglio with little prospect of achieving even an insignificant percentile of their original war aims in that country.

The USA's imperialist satrapies  are in even worse military and socio-economic shape than their Washington domiciled neocon lords and masters,who clearly are expecting big things from their hirelings and footpads.

Al-Masdar News (AMN) reported the following online 19 September :-
DAMASCUS, SYRIA (12:00 PM) – British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has stated that the United Kingdom has no intention of supporting the rebuilding of Syria as long as Syrian president Bashar al-Assad remains in power.
The former mayor of London made the remarks during a meeting with nations that supported anti-Assad forces during the Syrian Civil War, in the fringe of a United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York on Monday.
Johnson even stated that not only would the UK refuse any development aid for the reconstruction of Syria after the end of the war, but so would any of the other states that sided with Syrian rebels in past. This would include the United States, France, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, all of whom had representatives in the meeting that Johnson spoke to.

“We believe that the only way forward is to get a political process going and to make it clear to the Iranians, Russians and Assad regime that we, the like-minded group, will not support the reconstruction of Syria until there is such a political process and that means, as Resolution 2254 says, to a transition away from Assad,” Johnson said.

 

Interestingly, the UN Resolution 2254 that was voted into effect in 2015, makes no mention whatsoever of the removal of Assad from power, contrary to what Boris Johnson seemed to imply.

Johnson’s statement seems to contradict earlier statements by representatives from other former anti-Assad states. US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Satterfield earlier stated that “there has got to be a political process if there is to be any international participation in the reconstruction of Syria,” seemingly supporting the Russian mediated peace negotiations going on in Astana currently.
