Secular society does grieving rather poorly.

It has now become,somehow de rigeur to hold a minute's silence at noon the day after the latest terrorist outrage.

Quite why the Labour-run pro-Austerity Council here in Wakefield deems it a requirement that all those using their library have to take part in an act of faux- remembrance for these or those victims whenever and wherever terrorists strike or a disaster occurs is nothing short of a stain on the autonomy and liberties and rights of the individual.

Virtue signalling and superficial piety really are worthless.

Today it was for the more than 40 worshippers at a mosque in New Zealand ; but aren't all sudden and violent losses of life equally important irrespective of the immediate causes of that imposed loss of life?

On March 10, 157 passengers and crew perished after an Ethiopian Airlines 737 crashed.I don't recall Wakefield Metropolitan District Council enforce an act of remembrance upon the users of its services at noon the day after that.

The insane plethora of school /college related shootings in the USA,the wave of Islamic Terrorist atrocities across western europe and the UK -Manchester Arena, The Bataclan etc.etc. They have become,by their sheer repetitiveness almost ephemeral in character.

The loss of a single life is a tragedy,the loss of many,a statistic.

President Donald Trump pretty much said more or less the same thing in his response to the rioting and bloodshed in Charlottesville,Virginia. He even handedly and dispassionately denounced the criminal behaviour of both sets of ideological extremists who had congregated in the otherwise little heard of town in Virginia.

The corporate MSM , ( mainstream media ), a plethora of social media platforms ,Uncle Tom Cobbley and all have in the meantime gone totally ape over President Trump's statements,almost as if he were the instigator of the mayhem itself.

A few days ago, the American sprinter Justin Gatlin won the Gold medal in the Final of the 100 Metres competition at the World Athletics Championship by beating, amongst others the much feted Usain Bolt of Jamaica.And thereby hangs a tale.
Of Bread and Circuses. The rulers of ancient Rome understood the importance of state sponsored mass  popular entertainment and the role they and it played in the maintenance of the dominant ideology's hegemony over civil society.
Centuries later and the commodification and fetishisation of such entertainments-divertissements has become inextricably fused with the structure and superstructure of contemporary capitalist society.
The content of daily MSM discourse would in many ways seem severely depleted were sports in particular to feature less intensively and prominently as they do now.
Amid all the pressing issues and problems confronting us, those of economics ,various wars and politics the MSM has found time and space to highlight a single event in the World athletics Championships 2017 being held in London.
The BBC, the supposed virtuous paragon of impartiality and journalistic objectivity has gorged itself on the spectacle and aftermath of that 100 Metres Final that Gatlin won.
BBC commentators and journalists and expert pundits,once upon a time when reporting from sporting events ,would do just that. Report, giving  vivid descriptions of the action they were witnessing for the benefit of listeners and viewers whilst pundits /experts would add relevant event related analyses.
Alas, we are now in the Age of the Moral Philosopher-Commentator and the Prosecuting Attorney-Pundit. We are also under the jumped up,tin pot strutting tyranny of Sporting regulatory and administrative organising Bodies who've taken on a quasi-governmental role with ideological/theological views on morality.
Gatlin defeating Bolt was all about a twice " convicted " drugs cheat ( Gatlin )  de facto stealing the predetermined and rightful glory from Bolt who was running his last individual 100 metres race. The crowded stadium in London booed Gatlin prior to the running of that Final race, booed him after he'd won and  a day later booed him again at the event's medal ceremony.
So much for the oft mythologised and misunderstood legacy of Jesse Owens , that other American Negro sprinter who so controversially won a Gold medal in a hostile stadium environment amid official host country media hostility.
It is practically only ever mentioned as a footnote, that Gatlin was dealt with by due process of the disciplinary protocols and mechanisms available to and accepted by all in World athletics.
Gatlin was banned, he served his ban and was readmitted to participate in competition according to due process.
 And the moral jihadists ( mainly other current and former GB athletes of various disciplines ) led by the Grand Ayatollah of the IAAF, Lord Coe explicitly espoused their contempt for due process and the name and reputation of,an innocent law abiding person by the name of Justin Gatlin.

We're nearly there! today is June 2, by this time next week we'll all know quite how deep an ocean of faeces we'll find ourselves in politically. Prepare for a spectacular Dans La Merde. The plethora of putative MPs somehow managed to conduct their myriad #GE2017  campaigns without the slightest shred of gravitas or sincerity.Vacuous platitudes,even at this late stage are still out in force as is the unmistakable,cloying miasma of otiose cant being generated by all and sundry participants. And yet somehow a verdict will be delivered and announced on the morning of the 9th. All opinion polls are invariably wrong except that some polls are more wrong than others. A last frenetic burst of activity from the MSM thaumaturgists posing as modern day Commentators and political pundits passes these days for what little genuine excitement and existential angst that there used to be in politics and general elections in a distant golden age of the past. What we've witnessed over these last few weeks in Britain isn't the steady resurgent heartbeat of a healthy democratic polity but a comatose patient having a series of strokes whilst the ECG cries out to an empty unattended hospital ward. I'm afraid the grave news is that the Political class acting as pimps and shills for the metropolitan ruling elites were never ever going to abide by let alone grant the electorate's express wishes made on June 23 2016.  We've all been fooled again.

Today is not a good day here in Great Britain.We have suffered yet another Islamic terrorist outrage.Yet more innocent civilian lives have been lost. And there are bound to be another thousand and one blog posts along discouragingly similar lines that have yet to be written at some point in the not too distant future. The usual PC, multiculti #PrayFor #StandTogether hashtags have been enlisted to the cause of appeasement and acceptance. The usual vacuous,sanctimonious platitudes and calls for tolerance and good neighbourliness are out in force. Our enemies are digging our graves for us and our political Class,our metropolitan elites and their commentariat are lining up to ( do what they always do at times like these ),piss on the graves of our own fallen.Because that's the way Western Christian civilisation is supposed to react. Any expression other than a group hug with the adherents of the desert sands death cult is in effect treated and recorded as a " hate crime ". Pathetic. Perhaps the stupid neocons and dimwit Trump might've considered expending 59 missiles against ISIS/DAESH and AlQaeda instead of those who are fighting them. Having manufactured and assiduously promoted the straw man of Russian electoral skulduggery, the Democrats and faux-progressives have been hoist by their own petard. We are now seeing an enhanced version of US foreign diplomacy which invariably begins and ends with toys being thrown out of their prams. The only noticeable difference this time is that there's a whole lot more crashing and banging accompanying the latest outburst of Washington neocons' customary hubris and immaturity. Having long ago sidelined the Constitution and ceded its war making powers to the Presidency, Congress is de facto complicit in everything every holder of the Office of President does and has ordered done since WW2. For decades now even the most genuine opponents of military intervention abroad have proven wholly impotent in the face of a determined President. This time around it happens to be Trump;a man whom the Democrats to a large degree and Republicans to a surprising degree smeared and denounced as somehow being in the thrall of Russia. A country whom Democrat and Republican politicians and commentators and mainstream media swear engaged in heretofore unimaginable and widespread electoral skulduggery in the US electoral process in order to ensure his-Trump's election! These very same forces now applaud and welcome Trump's actions in Yemen, Syria,Afghanistan and when it does all go tits up, in North Korea too. The supine, servile nature of NATO's response to all this merely underscores the organisation's peripheral auxilliary role as Washington's global lackey.

In Astana,Kazakhstan Syrian  peace talks brokered by Moscow,Tehran and Ankara are under way. Not that the MSM ( MainStream Media ) here in the West seems too fussed about it. Nor do the dregs of  US neocon interventionism have much to say on the topic of Syria these days. The remnants of the british Labour Party -both Parliamentary and grassroots extra-parliamentary have decided to ease back on their vainglorious,hubristic posturing and issuing of implausibly dire warnings to Moscow on the subject. At least for now,the odd frisson of faux-anxiety about 3 Russian warships traversing international waters adjacent Britain not withstanding. And so it goes. There's still plenty of turmoil,scandals,strikes,sedition,corruption,terrorism and nascent bellicosity to go around all the continents.And yet the best that the aforementioned Labour Party can manage is to be the harbinger of antidemocratic sedition against the ineluctable verdict of the 23 June referendum. The monumentally idiosyncratic Supreme Court,having handed down an 8 to 3 majority decision forcing HMG to refer to Parliament before triggering Article 50,has in effect handed a box of matches to a two year old child sat next to a can of petrol. This all but ensures the Remainer Zombie apocalypse will engulf #brexit .The itinerant benchwarmers leading this horrorshow are the same ones waving their scrawny fists at Moscow and cosying  up even more intimately to the anti-russian sanctions imposing #EU.  A few days ago ,once upon a time,barely remembered Civil rights agitator, now Congressman, John Lewis slandered,defamed and demeaned the American Constitution, the legitimacy and outcome of democratic elections and the office of POTUS,whilst making a clearly intended libellous attack on President-elect Trump himself. The MSM and virtually all media platforms reported the basic facts as:-

On Saturday, Georgia congressman  and former Civil rights activist,Lewis told NBC News that he did not regard the incoming president as legitimate. Within hours,Trump criticised the Democrat congressman in a tweet, " “Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart".

The " Guardian " somewhat triumphantly noted that :-

Hours,after Trump tweeted: two graphic novels and a memoir by Lewis took the top three spots on Amazon.

Here's how the " Guardian " in its usual exemplary PC liberal,global multicultural elitist tones concluded its massively distorted " report " on what began as  Lewis' egregious verbal broadcast assault on Trump.

" Donald Trump’s attempt to discredit US politician and hero of the civil rights movement John Lewis in a series of tweets has backfired. "...

Defending one's own integrity and the Office of the President by countering an initial unprovoked assault is somehow rendered as " Trump's attempt to discredit Lewis.."

Clearly, the liberal elites and their MSM lackeys have deep seated issues, not least of which is their innate propensity to mimic Goebbels whenever the going gets a little too tough even for them.
