Sclerosis -rigidity,the inability to adapt.

It is four weeks since the constitutionally legitimate Catalan regional government conducted its referendum on the question of independence from the Spanish state on October 1st.

Four weeks on, Carles Puigdemont the Catalan President faces the possibility of being arraigned by Spain's public prosecutor on charges of rebellion.Other elected members of the Catalan Assembly might also face similar charges.

These are prominent amongst the sombre notes being struck in a mounting cacophony of death knells sounding out across Europe announcing the temporal demise of the EU globalist tyranny.

The post- Francoist federal Spanish state has proven to be just as institutionally,politically and diplomatically sclerotic as its European Union mothership of whom it is the merest vassal.

Any reasonably adept political leadership, skilled in the arts of statecraft and the exigencies of realpolitik could have and would have negotiated a way out of the Catalan imbroglio before it had deteriorated to the state of it being such a quagmire as at present.

The Rajoy administration in Madrid  is wholly incapable of overcoming, let alone partially resolving, its ingrained incompetence,hubris and stupidity.

Equally so the so-called European Union that was never intended to actually function as some kind of legitimate ueber-democracy.Hand wringing and the expression of vacuous platitudes and otiose cant long ago replaced actual Bismarckian/Bonapartist/Machiavellian purpose and intent.

And so we are  stuck in the realm of quasi-idiots who utter inane drivel and all  of whom want to enjoy an aspirational petty bourgeois lifestyle without wishing to deal with let alone encountering the vicissitudes of dialectical and historical materialism.

So far, at least, no-one has been tortured or shot over the Catalonia Affair.

Though quite what a public trial and all that will inevitably entail with the political mass media martyrdom of Puigdemont and his confederates is likely to achieve is at this stage unimaginable.

It is not something the Pendejos of Madrid quite had in mind when they put on their stupid tricorn hats and struck their venal poses in front of their mirror on a morning trying to convince themselves just how tough they were.

That just about sums up the entire Catalan independence imbroglio.

Following the recent catastrophic events in Catalunya, where the rest of the world was witness to the most nauseating scenes of Authoritarian-State depravity committed on the continent of Europe since WW2 ; events have taken a turn for the worse.If indeed such a thing were ever possible,then the Spanish State with King Felipe to the fore have achieved this nigh on impossible feat.

The Catalan Regional Parliament's scheduled session for Monday 9 October 2017 has been suspended by the Spanish Constitutional Court.To say that this has caused widespread consternation is to state the all too obvious.

But one needs to restate that now, in case at some future point in an as yet unwritten future scenario some Power redacts or alters the facts of this particular matter.And given the current direction of travel of the European Union and its constituent quasi-national satrapies, I wouldn't be too surprised at such an eventuality occurring.

With heretofore unimaginable courage and audacity the elected regionalist representatives advocating a free and independent sovereign nation state of Catalunya have taken the initiative in the war against the neoliberal/globalist ruling elites and their European Union.

According to latest MSM reports, the Catalan Parliament intends going ahead with its scheduled session on Monday 9 October. It is also highly likely that they will discuss and debate and perhaps even vote on the issue of a Declaration of Independence for Catalunya.

By suspending the Catalan Parliamentary session, the Spanish Constitutional Court has  not only automatically de-legitimised the Rajoy government's own authority; it has left the supporters of a unified spanish state inside the EU hanging in a morally indefensible  anti-democratic limbo.
 And all the apparatus of the EU superstate and all the EU's kowtowing bootlickers such as the UK's three major parties, will be  unable to put this particular humpty-dumpty back together again.

It is Monday 2 October and we're living in the historic aftermath of the events which unfolded across Catalonia on Sunday  1 October. Needless to say,( but we're going to say it anyhow ) all of which could quite easily have been avoided.

Social media erupted as social media is wont to do in comparison to the ailing corporate MSM, which spun the events as " clashes between.." and carried calls from the EU and its compliant commentariat for  " both sides " to " de-escalate ".

The good thing is that corporate MSM no longer controls and directs the narrative nor the ensuing discourse as certainly or competently as it once did pre-social media.

The plethora of on-line video footage laid bare the capricious and often brutal behaviour of the  Spanish Guardia Civil toward citizens of Barcelona and elsewhere in Catalunya going about their lawful business in wishing to exercise their inalienable democratic rights.

Globalist neoliberal Ruling elites all across the continent of Europe are getting seriously pissed off with their recalcitrant electorates.

First with #brexit ( more of which later in this post ) ,then with the excellent showing of the Freedom Party in Austria, Geert Wilders in Holland ,LePen in France and just the other week, the AfD in Germany. Each in turn has been characterised ( slandered and defamed ) by their electoral opponents as being the veritable nemesis of western civilisation and the destroyers of PC mutliculturalism ( which of course to that degree they earnestly aspire ).

Only the ideological progeny of Franco and inheritors of his soiled mantle, the Rajoy Regime in Madrid, has proven thus far to be intemperate and politically illiterate in addressing the challenge from the people against the neoliberal Authoritarian State.

Here in the UK on Sunday, at about the same time as many tens of thousands of law abiding Catalonians were being subjected to the armed violence of the State , the anti - #brexit front organisation  " Stop Brexit " was holding a demonstration in Manchester where the Concservative Party conference was taking place.

The UK domiciled fraction of the cosmopolitan ruling elite learned long ago to use subtler methods when going about annulling the expressed democratic will of the British people.

They have the Labour Party and its lapdog trade unionist leadership entourage, the Conservative Party,LibDems,Greens, and virtually all the non-parliamentary Left to call on and those parties don't wear jackboots ,use batons or rubber bullets.

But the intended outcome of those parties' propaganda- weaponised command and control of the narrative,its interpretation and subsequent discourse- for the people is exactly the same. They want Brexit annulled,just as surely as " they " want the Catalan referendum annulled.

Though whether " they " necesssarliy  " win " any argument in particular with whatever methodology they choose to deploy on given day in any given situation ; that, it seems, is still open to question. 

On Sunday 1 October 2017 " their " mask slipped. The EU and all that it stands for and all its mainstream Parties supporters were nowhere to be seen.

The struggle continues.

It is 21 September 2017 and democratically elected politicians have been arrested in Barcelona, their offices as well as other regional ministerial buildings raided and property seized on the orders of the Spanish central government.

Amongst items confiscated were,apparently 9.6 million official ballot forms prepared for the planned Catalan Referendum on Independence scheduled for 1 October.

The leading Spanish mass circulation El Pais reported on-line :-

" Spain’s Constitutional Court will study an appeal by the central government against the Catalan parliament’s recently passed law preparing the region’s transition into an independent republic.
The court’s decision to accept the case on Tuesday automatically puts the law on hold, although it is unclear whether Catalan authorities will heed the suspension.

Before this, the Constitutional Court had already put a freeze on another law passed by the Catalan parliament last week paving the way for an independence referendum on October 1.

In the meantime, state prosecutors in Catalonia have ordered top officials within the National Police, the Civil Guard and the regional Mossos d’Esquadra police force to seize any and all items meant to help prepare or hold the “illegal self-determination” referendum, including ballot boxes, printed material and computer equipment.

The judiciary police have been instructed to stop any acts by authorities, public employees or “individuals working in connivance with the former” to organise the referendum. "

Whether any of this can be construed, let alone accepted, by wider world public opinion as legitimate in any sense is yet to be established.

What is immediately disturbing and ought to be of pressing concern to neighbouring and allied states of Spain, is the authoritarian manner, more akin to Erdogan's Turkey, with which forces of the Spanish state have ridden roughshod ,without the slightest compunction, over the legitimacy and dignity of Catalonia.

Where are the messages of support for the People of Catalonia and their elected government ?
Where is the outrage against the actions of the Popular Party regime in Madrid ?

What have the European Union , the national parliaments across the continent ,the Trades Unions and social democratic and liberal parties far and wide to say on this hideous outrage?

Or are the metropolitan ruling elites and most of their political class more than a little afraid now of what an existential threat referendums pose to their ramshackle EU neoliberal order in the wake of the UK's 23 June 2016 magnificent decision to #brexit
